Job description – Assembler

 

Alpha Q, Inc. is seeking an Assembler to join our team! In this role, you will assemble and erect precision assemblies and sub-assemblies, adhering to close tolerances & critical operation requirements where fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components. This is a first shift position and will be located at our Colchester, CT manufacturing facility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:


  •         Inspect parts for tolerances and finish requirements; check sub-assemblies and units
  •         Select and use appropriate measuring instruments, testing, and inspection devices
  •         Perform adjusting, calibrating, and aligning to insure free action and movement of parts, tolerance fits, and operating requirements
  •         Perform skilled fitting to involve lapping, honing, and scraping of ways where prescribed tolerances are exacting and difficult to attain

 

 

Qualifications:


  •         3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (will consider someone with a formal accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training in section of related trades).
  •         Ability to read and interpret blue prints, process sheets, gauges, veneers, and possess a broad knowledge of mechanical principles
  •         Highly organized and able to cross train in different areas of the shop
  •         Punctual, reliable, and willing to work overtime as deemed necessary by supervisor to meet customer demands
  •         Excellent attention to detail and able to work independently

 

Education Required:


High school or vocational graduate

Job description – CMM / Manual Inspector

 

Alpha Q, Inc. is seeking an Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will utilize CMM and manual inspection techniques to determine the quality status of parts at location check, first piece operation acceptance, in progress and final inspection. Start your career in the exciting and dynamic world of high technology manufacturing and work with some of the most talented people in our industry. This is a second shift position and will be located at our Colchester, CT manufacturing facility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:



  •     Inspection of complex and intricate mechanical parts and fixtures
  •     Determine acceptable quality of parts and notate the reason for any rejections
  •    Use existing and create new inspection setups to check dimensional requirements pertinent to product design
  •     Assist in resolving day-to-day inspection problems regarding methods, devices, and corrective action
  •     Work from complex and involved drawings and specifications using a wide variety of standard and special precision measuring         instruments and testing devices
  •     Perform surface plate inspection as required to obtain or validate key features

 

Qualifications:


  •      3 - 5 years’ experience in manufacturing inspection (will consider someone with a formal accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training in section of related trades).
  •      Experience with PC DMIS, CAD tools, GD&T, and general CMM programs
  •      Working knowledge of various handheld inspection devices as well as coordinate measuring machines
  •      Ability to interpret manufacturing process sheets
  •      Highly organized and able to cross train in different areas of the shop
  •      Punctual, reliable, and willing to work overtime as deemed necessary by supervisor to meet customer demands
  •      Excellent attention to detail and able to work independently

In this role, you will maintain tool inventory for the manufacturing shop floor and manage the overall organization, storage, and inventory of all the tool crib materials. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:


  •     Maintain tool inventory for manufacturing shop floor
  •     Preset and issue tools to machinists
  •     Prepare tool requisitions
  •     Visually inspect condition of returned tools and appropriately route for necessary sharpening/repair
  •     Organize, store, and maintain tool crib inventory and materials
  •     Monitor and manage inventory for tool vending machine and first aid cabinets
  •     Update material safety data sheets via online management system

 

 

Qualifications:

  •         Assist with negotiating purchases for standard commodities, readily available supplies and services within prescribed dollar limits, such purchases and associated procedures being subject to controls and approval of a supervisor.
  •         Follow up purchases through correspondence, telephone or wire to expedite orders, change amounts, material, specifications, etc.
  •         Review and check material requisitions, purchase orders, vendors’ invoices, receiving slips, credit memorandum, etc.

 

 

Qualifications:


  •         1 - 3 years’ of purchasing experience (preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment)

  •         Inspection and setting of gages
  •         Ability to create alternate inspection methods based on gage availability (metrology expertise preferred)
  •         Gage issue and recall to ensure accuracy in location tracking and timeliness to meet shop needs
  •         Ability to learn and use gage crib management software to minimize missing or overdue gages
  •         Chemical shelf life management including verification logbook ownership
  •         Organization and filing of calibration certifications
  •         Management of weekly onsite visits by calibration provider

 

 

Qualifications:


  •         2 years’ experience in a manufacturing shop floor setting preferred (will consider someone with technical training or education).
  •         Working knowledge of gages, machining, 6 sigma principles, and the ability to interpret blueprints
  •         Capable of using basic inspection equipment i.e. micrometers, calipers, plug gages, etc. and a broad knowledge of mechanical principles

Alpha Q, Inc. is seeking a CMM Programmer to join our team! In this role, you will perform highly complex in-process, final bench, and product feature inspections. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:


  •         Create programs for new parts using PC DMIS with scanning and probing techniques
  •         Develop and debug CMM programs using CAD tools to optimize probe movements
  •         Prepare inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions
  •         Raise notifications of non-conformance, quarantine non-conforming product, and provide disposition
  •         Perform first article inspections (FIA) and use predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in-process, and completed products for conformance to engineering requirements

 

 

Qualifications:


  •         3 - 5 years’ experience in CMM programming (complex aerospace components preferred)
  •         Proficient with PC DMIS, PPAP, Net Inspect, Mastercam, Solidworks, and Verify (Aerospace OEM Portals a plus)
  •         Working knowledge of various measuring devices, testing equipment, gage and fixture design
  •         Ability to interpret blue prints and develop concepts for measuring intricate machined features
  •         Punctual, reliable, and willing to work overtime as deemed necessary by supervisor to meet customer demands
  •         Excellent mathematical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently
